Stretched areola

Question: I am 24 years old and I've had a child. My breasts got really big and now I have lost the weight in them my areolae have stretched twice the size. I want my areolae smaller. How do I do that and would my breasts look normal after surgery?

Answer: It is possible to reduce the diameter of the areola and it involves a surgical procedure. The procedure removes the outer part of the areola much like removing a doughnut. This leaves a smaller areola with the nipple in the centre where the hole would be in the doughnut. The skin of the breast is then sutured to the areola. The result is a smaller areola with a circular scar around the outside.

The breast should change little from its original shape.
